Cute Pork Chops

In a zoo in California, a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fa ll into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment. Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only 'orphans' that could be found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger. Would they become cubs or pork chops??
Take a look...

Birding in Texas

Last weekend I headed up to the Texas Hill Country for Trade Days. I stopped in Poteet for the night at my siser-in-law's ranch and the next morning a flock of hummingbirds showed up for breakfast. There were so many of them they sounded like bees flying around. The pictures do not capture how many there were. But it was amazing to see so many at one time and they were just lovely.

Outside my mother-in-law's back door was a dove nesting. I snapped her picture and she flew out at me which scared me. So the next morning I slipped out the door as quiet as a mouse and snapped her picture when she wasn't looking.

Then I saw a peacock on top of a house and had to snap his picture to add to my collection of Texas birding!

My New Passion

Hubby and I just bought a new house here on the Texas coast. It is just minutes away from our front door to the beach. It has four bedrooms, five and half baths, livingroom/diningroom/kitchen open floor plan. It is going to be a summer rental for others to enjoy, but I have had lots of fun getting it ready. We plan to use it in the off season. Can't wait for friends and family to come visit and enjoy! I have posted some pictures and will post some more as I get things ready.

This picture is of the bar that looks into the kitchen. I have put my years of collecting STUFF up above the cupboards. I have taken some great pictures and will post them later.

Being that I work in a furniture store, I was able to play with all the fabrics and select just what I wanted. I chose a dark blue sofa with these cute kiwi green pillows with sailboats.

I loved that kiwi green fabric so much I just had to have a chair out of it!

This is a picture of our old table we had in FBG. I found these chairs at Pier 1 and knew they were perfect for the table/house.

Death of an ICON

I loved Charlton Heston movies, he was Indiana Jones before Indiana Jones, he was Top Gun before Top Gun and most of all no one could be Ben-Hur or Moses better then this great actor. I have tried to recall my favorite movie of his but I think they were all my favorite from Planet of the Apes (I will never forget how awed I was watching that movie for the first time with my friends) to Will Penny a brokendown cowboy that finds love for the first time. If you have never seen a Charlton Heston movie....I suggest you rent one!

Absolut Bull

This is such and insult to our country. Mexico does not consist of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California etc... Boycott Absolut Vodka!!! Call them and let them know you will no longer buy their weak tea product until they apologize to the very people they are trying to sell their product to. Just buy Tito's Vodka made in Texas, USA.

Hope my many fans (HA HA) will continue to read my post! For Dawn...no we don't go to Wimberly but you need to come see us in FBG at Trade Days. V wants to join us sometime in the summer so maybe you could come check us out then!
