Sick Curtis

I heard that Curtis is a little under the weather. Hope you feel better soon! Try some of that grapefruit tea.

Grapefruit Tea

I got this wonderful recipe from my new best friend Martha Stewart...we are really tight and hang out every morning for about thirty minutes before I have to take that long walk down the dock to the parking lot and drive about 1/4 of a mile to work. Anyway this tea was really yummy and a a great alternative to hot chocolate on a cold rainy day.

You need

2 cups of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1/4 cup water
2 tbs of honey
tsp of allspice
cinnamon stick

bring to boil... remove cinnamon stick, strain through strainer and enjoy. Makes enough for two people are one piggy person.

I did not have allspice or cinnamon sticks so I used a tsp of pumpkin pie spice...worked great! For those of you who don't eat honey (you know who you are) two tsp of sugar works also.

Sorry kitties all gone!!

Our country has fallen short on ethnocentrism in the last few years....so when I see something that inspires me I will post it. I don't expect anyone to be inspired by what touches me, but today on MLK day, a man who had a Dream of a great nation, I think he did and would still appreciate our Marines.

Rainy Day

Even a rainy day can look lovely through the portholes of a boat.

Saturday Thrifting

Saturday, down here on the Texas Coast, was a beautiful and sunny day for January so my sister-in-law and I and her unwilling son decided to explore some local shops. I found so many cool things but living on a boat limits what I can buy soooooo my big find for the day was this Martha Stewart cook book from the eighties for only $2.00!!! WaaaaHoooo...I love those kind of under $5.00 finds when in fact I would have paid...hmmmmm at least $3.00 for this book. Just look how young Martha looks on the front of this book. I admit I am a closet Martha Stewart fan soooo don't tell anyone!

What I liked about this book were the pictures like the green depression glass and how she sets a table with old dishes like Fiesta Ware!

Happy New Years

I know it is past New Years Day, but at least it is still New Years Day week. 2007 was a quiet year. The big events were TJ's graduation and mom-in-law's making it through her health scare. Now if we can get this boat out of it's slip and head to some place balmy and tropical like...let's see...hmmmmm Panama!
